I can’t get my scanner to work in Linux however, I can scan with no problem from my VMWare Windows session. Here’s a real-world example of why you need to have Windows available: If you have a scanner, you may not be able to get it to work in Linux. VMWare no longer provides a 32-bit version of VMWare Workstation Player. You must be running a 64-bit version of Linux in order to install this software. (Having that ability will help you to have the confidence you need to take the Linux plunge.) In this way, you will be able to take the plunge into the Linux world, and be able to jump to Windows at a moment’s notice should you need to.
